    The Our Way strategy was developed to eliminate the disproportionate representation of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children and families in the child protection system and improve life outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children.

  • Queensland First Children and Families Board

    The Queensland First Children and Families Board provides strategic advice and cultural guidance to the department in the implementation of Safer Children and Safer Communities strategy, to improve life outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children and families.

  • Delegated authority

    Delegated authority transforms how child protection responses (services) are delivered to develop culturally safe and responsive ways of protecting children.

  • Family Wellbeing Services

    Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Family Wellbeing Services are open across the state to make it easier for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families to access culturally responsive support to improve their social, emotional, physical and spiritual wellbeing, and build their capacity to safely care for and protect their children.

  • Family Participation Program

    The Family Participation Program is a state-wide program that provides services for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families in a culturally safe space to have an amplified voice to address child safety concerns. A key process used is the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Family Led Decision Making.
